Pull off

(Redirected from Pull Off)
A pull off is when a guitarist frets two notes on the same string, plays the higher of the two notes, and while that note is still ringing, pulls his finger off the higher fret. The vibration of the original higher note, and the motion of pulling off, causes the lower note to sound as well, so for one strike of the pick, two (or more) notes will sound. The fretted note can pull off to an open string as well as a fretted note. Pull offs can be pulled off to as many notes as you can have fretted beneath the original note, so it's not limited to just two notes. In fact, two-hand tappers can pull off virtually unlimited amounts of notes if they use their picking hand to hold down notes and swap back and forth between hands.
