Octave

An interval eight diatonic scale degrees above a given tone. Two notes an octave apart have the same letter name, and form the most consonant interval possible.

Technically: A doubling or halving of a frequency. E.g., One octave higher than 100 Hz is 200 Hz and one octave lower than 100 Hz is 50 Hz.
