Guitar Pro (http://www.guitar-pro.com) is a very powerful tablature editor. It can play tabs for you in real-time, and has built-in support for a number of effects, like bends, harmonics, tremolo, slide, vibrato, palm mute and more. It also has a variety of instruments to choose from, allowing for a very realistic representation of any song. You can import from and export to ASCII (regular text) and MIDI format.
