The timing should be correct (or at least very close).  It never hurts
to listen to the song before playing it though.

The numbers above the tabs represent the time to give the feel of how
fast or slow the song is being played, with (in this case) four beats per
set.  The vertical lines | represent the end of a set and beginning of
the next set.

Within the tabs are the fret numbers that are to be played on each string
as well as letters or symbols that say what to do with the note.
     ~ = vibrate
/ or \ = slide up or down to the next note
     b = bend
 (3b5) = hold the string on the third fret while bending the string on the
         fifth fret.
     h = hammer on to the next note
     p = pull off to the next note
     X = mute this string
